Michael Jordan, the basketball legend, recently weighed in on the debate about who he thinks is the best point guard in NBA history. In a podcast with Gilbert Arenas, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry self-proclaimed that he is the best point guard in NBA history. Later, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith added his two cents, backing Curry and stating that he is better than Magic Johnson.
Earlier this week, Smith shared on First Take that Jordan texted him to share his thoughts on the matter. According to Smith, Jordan texted him, โAlthough greatest of anything is always a debate, I begin to differ on greatest point guard of all-timeโฆ Magic Johnson is easily the best point guard of all time. Steph Curry is very close, but not in front of Magic.โ While Jordan does not think Curry is better than Johnson, he does give him the nod of being the best shooter ever. Jordan wrote that Johnson โinvented the triple-doubleโ and currently holds five NBA titles, which is one more than Curry. Fans also weighed in after Jordanโs comments with many saying that the legend has spoken. Johnson and Jordanโs careers overlapped when the two shared the court on the 1992 โDream Teamโ for USA Basketball.
